Why is it so expensive?

I've seen blue squammies that big for normal ($60) prices before, I think I will buy and sell them if I see some again.

Bright Blue Squamosas are exremely rare. Most squamosas are brown....or brown with blue dots at best. Yes, there are maximas or croceas that can be very bright blue....but, very few squamosas. The trait that makes squamoas so special (besides their outstanding shell) is their ability to get huge.....almost as large as a gigas.....where a maxima will top out at about 10". Those are exceptional clams with an exceptional price. The last one that outfit had sold was for $500 as soon as it was posted.....they're just trying to find out where the market is for that highly coveted clam. It's not my thing.....but, I understand the pricing......this is certainly for the clam afficinado.

Yeah that is too bad. I just got a 2'' tear drop crocea for $25. I feel for you Chris. My last trip back home, I checked out all the stores in Victoria. I could not beleive the prices compared to Puerto Rico.

around here a 2" tear drop goes for $60 easy, however there is this one mom and pop store that not too many people know about that will sell any coral or clam for $25, suffice it to say, I am a regular.
