Hi,
I agree dwarf seahorses are not for everyone. You have to either hatch brine shrimp daily or get real good at doing it every day and a half and storing the rest in the fridge, which is what I do. That way they always get something in the morning. Makes it virtually impossible for me to go on vacations having animals like these, skip one day of feeding and you will lose at least one. You can't rely on them to hunt pods, the pods may actually hunt them. You can't use liverock as it comes with so many carnivorous surprises such as hydroids, unless you predose the rocks with fluke tabs to kill all cnidarians.
Other than that they are quite easy! (: Mine are doing ok in a large size kritter keeper, water changes are done by siphoning water from a reef tank above in a slow drip. No heater or filter, just an air stone. The tank unfortunately has greenwater. Makes uneaten brine great nutritionally and uses fish waste but also makes it hard to see the fish. I think they had babies a day or two ago.
There is a lady just south of Seattle who is breeding and selling these guys, I can give you her info if you like. She is on another forum-Reef frontiers. I hope to be selling dwarves myself soon but right now am holding what I have til I see breeding from this generation. I am in Olympia but might move to PDX soon and am also looking for aquarium friendly landlords! (:
Thanks,
Kate
