FS: 1000W HID Ballast for DIY MH needs repair in Portland

I just moved to Portland and found this grow light ballast in my basement. I'm a former reefer so I am putting it up for sale here. All I'm asking is $5 for the ballast. It is apparently shot, there is a sticker on it that says "dead 8/04". Also the basllast is for HPS, not MH. I don't know much about HPS but I imagine the capacitor or transformer may be reuseable for a MH light? At the minimum the large aluminum case/heatsink should house whatever you want to toss in it, perhaps 2x250W MH ballasts or 1x400 or 1x1000. I figure rather than take it to a metal recycler I can "recycle" it here.
