FS: 400W Retrofit MH lights for sale

3-24" PFO parallel reflectors
3-400W MH eballasts
3-moguls
3-400W bulbs, probably 6mos old, with only 3-4 hrs/day of use (you can choose from 2-10K reeflux, or 2-20K XMs)

I will sell it all for $350 (plus shipping), or else for $125/ballast-mogul-reflector. One reflector has a hole cut out for a mogul, so I guess I'd take $115 for one of the setups. The ballasts are champion lighting 400W eballasts, and range from 2-4 yrs of age.

Sometimes I have to work.

I'll try to take a pic tonight. What you would get is 3 ballasts, cords, moguls, and bulbs that would need to be installed into your own hood. It should be too difficult to accomplish.

I am hoping that I have first dibs on these 3 setups....

sorry, otolith, I just get anxious when I see something on here that I really want get in on....I know how fast things can go on here...

Do you have any idea on power consumption comparison between 3 250 setups and 3 400 watt setups??? The tank I am setting up is a 180 rr, dimensions,,72 X 24 X 24....so do you think that these 400 watt setups would be better than 3 250's?? Also, just to clarify... these 3 setups are all wired and ready to install in my hood, correct? Now, THAT is something I now how to do. LOL

Thanks so much...can I get an estimate on shipping to zip code 67002?

Jenni

Jenni, you're first in line, although I must admit if someone local wanted them and I wouldn't have to ship, then I would have sold to them. However, I posted this in my local forum for a few days without much response, so I'll ship them to you if you want them.

Power consumption would be essentially another 400W bulb running for the amount of time that you plan on running your lights. I honestly don't know how it would compare. I had this setup on a 180. Only difference is that I was running 4-400W bulbs. If I didn't have an acrylic tank with a large brace in the middle, I would have gone to 3 lights. Now, I've taken the tank down and have no desire in setting it back up. I'm going to downsize to something smaller. I would think that it would be pretty easy to set back up.

I would _think_ postage should be around $25-50. We can figure that out if you want them.

Well, now everyone is telling me I could get by with 3 250 watt setups so I don't know what to do.... yours is a great price though...I have been pricing out new 250 watt setups and it would be alot more than the $350 you are wanting even including the shipping.

Did you have to have a chiller? How much do you think these increased your electric bill?

I honestly couldn't tell you how much it increased my electric bill. I did run a chiller, but could have gotten away without one if I would have had better air circulation in the hood.

You can do a google search for an electical cost calculator and check.
I found this one: http://www.super-grow.biz/Electricity.jsp

I did some quick calculations using my electrical cost of $.072, assuming an 8 hour photoperiod and that ballast draw only their rated wattage(most draw more I think).

Three 400w ballasts
Your Daily Cost Will Be $0.69
Your Monthly Cost Will Be $20.74
Three 250w ballasts
Your Daily Cost Will Be $0.43
Your Monthly Cost Will Be $12.96

If I had the $ I'd have bought them already!

Derek,
Let me know if you change your mind on a trade. I bet a nice LCD monitor would help your surfing habits, or ???

Chris,
Thanks for providing that info.

I would still prefer to keep to trade for green paper, but will keep this in mind. I already have a 19" LCD, and don't plan to do any major computer upgrades until Vista comes out and is stable. Then I'll probably build a new computer (or at least pick out all the parts and have someone put it together), and give the current one to my kid.
