World's largest marine sanctuary created today
The Hawaiian archipelago now includes the world's largest marine sanctuary. No fishing will be permitted, and 70% of tropical coral reefs in US waters will be protected. At 140,000 square miles, this is an even bigger area than the Great Barrier reef in sanctuary for fish, corals, sea turtles, seals, etc.
