Question

Who is willing to help: Naming & Picture Taking?

I am at the point with my SPS tank that I need to name my corals and get a good pictures of each. I need this for talking/posing about my tank, setting up trades, and it is something I have wanted to do for some time.

Is anyone in our group/area good at naming SPS? Ross?

Is anyone in our group/area good at taking digital pictures of corals? I have a nice little camera but seem unable to focus or get realistic color in my pictures of corals.

Who is willing to help? I can offer soft, LPS, and SPS frags as an incentive.

I will help all I can. I can probably name the corals and I have a 4.2MP Canon digital camera. But, I am not an expert. If I recall, one of our new members, Aaron Shinkle's (med student) wife is a professional photographer - and uses digital cameras. I will be happy to come take pics, you can choose if you like or not, then call a professional.

Let me know.

Thanks for the offer rahre1. By the way, what does rahre1 stand for/mean? Naming might be the more important part at this point. Most of my corals are color shifting with the new 400 watt MH (Hamilton 14K) on the tank. Pretty much means they look like crap and with out a complete hood yet there is a ton of light leakage most likely making picture taking impossible until the hood is done.

Hmmm professional photographer, wonder how much “reef packages” would run; hopefully just a few frags.

Didn’t I promise you more corals? How is the coral I gave you doing? What is your availability? What is the best way to contact you?

Rahre was a what my neighbor and best friend called me when I was about 2. It was Rossy for someone who was challenged with their s's.

Call me at 507-285-4472 at night or 507-538-1186 daytime. Your monti is getting nice purple tips, but still remains purple/brown. It will take a couple months to see what it wants to be.

Sounds like you will be a good guy to know as I try and go for the more demanding SPS.

Casey(vertical) do you every let visitors come through and gawk at your tank? Nobody else in the area has an established SPS tank that I am aware of, so I would love to see one.

I try all the time lol, but everyone thinks Hicksville is too far to drive. Since the tank has been set up only 4 other reefers have seen it in person. And 2 of them only in the last month. There is suppose to be a few others coming down this weekend, but we'll see if they make it. So anyway sure come over and gawk all you want.

So here is a few pics of some of Ross's old corals.

Here is the cool green thingy, ORA blue milli, Purple pocci, and ORA indo stag.

ORA Chips and green Samo

Pink blue tip table (can kinda see the blue tips coming back finally)

Porites

I think there was 14 in all right? I think I still have 10. A couple ended up being doubles and a couple just wouldn't do anything in my tank so they are now in a different tank.

Later
Casey

Oh man! Your killing me! Things have doubled in size already!

WOW - that red table is HOT. It has been a long time since it looked that good for me. I am so happy that you have given them a great home. Thanks.

I would love to come down. How about Saturday the 20th?

Thumbs up

Hey Michael,

Wendi said she would gladly take pictures if you want her to - as part of our membership dues. I wouldn't be any help identifying though. I still don't know the difference between an lps and an sps. Shoot me an email if you want her to take pics.

Also, the strangest thing happened the frogspawn you gave me sprouted new heads. I thought I totally killed it.

Everysince I added the CA reactor everything has been extremely stable and growing like weeds. As overstocked as I am I have many coral on the verge of going to war with each other.

I always liked that table in your tank and like I said about the stabilty you can see what it has done. I have noticed it is a pretty finicky piece though and will lose some colar if things are off. Its almost a better indicator than many of my testkits.

Anyway more than happy to have given them a new home

The 20th works for me. Let me know for sure when it gets closer and will PM you directions and #s.
