Where is Everyone?

Gee, have a little heart attack and everyone goes and hides. What's up with THAT??

Way too quiet here. Does this mean nobody got any cool presents for Christmas or any new, cool critters lately? Lord, if nothing else just a little inane chatting would be nice to see!

I returned to work today. So far, so good. I have a friend visiting and I've been doing lots of hiking around and tour guiding, which is kind of fun. I get to return to scuba around my b-day. Anyone want to take me diving for a b-day present???

Hope this finds everyone happy and healthy with thriving reef tank(s).

Hey Larry...

Mikayla and I have been so busy! And now, I have a really nasty cold. My home computer crashed. Enough excuses yet?

Nothing new in the tank as of late. Too cold to order anything in and FnP's selection leaves much to be desired.

I'm glad to hear that you're feeling better.

Jodi

Sorry for the time delay. Work has been hetic so I have been avoiding the computer at home like a plague. Much like Jodi I am just getting over a cold. I have not added anything to my tanks for some time, just letting them go and grow. I even got around to doing a 5 gallon water change in the 58 and a 10 gallon for the 90. Something I should do more often. Reef interest waxes and wanes and currently I am mainly doing maintaince. Work, house, wife, dog, ... everything demands attention, time and money. Currently the tanks are getting the short end of the stick.

I am thrilled to hear you are doing better!!! It much be the clean air over/down there

That is a very nice looking tank.

Just as a suggestion I would encourage you to start a new thread. Reviving an old thread with a post about a differant topic is not a good way to go about it.

So what size is that sucker?
Where did you get it?
What are your plans for it?
How is your floor holding it?

thanks, 280gallon, the base has about 30 6x6's standing inbetween 6 3/4" plywood sheets screwed together and is over the cement foundation of the basement corner. got it from rochester on sunday. has about 250lbs rock in it, need about 200-300 more to look decent, nothing really special just a regular reef, we have 55gal reef now, but want to get some butterflys and don't want them in the tiny tank.

Greg where in Rochester did you get a tank that big? I have been trying to keep my eyes and ears open for a big tank and not seen a thing. To be honest I am a bit jealous, not that I could afford to fill a tank that size right now, but it is cool.

What are the dimentions of the tank, is it glass?
How are you setting it up, Lighting, Flow, Filtration, ....?
More Pictures?

I'm in redwood falls

more pics to come when gets a little better setup, have a remora skimmer on my little tank, ordering (2) 48" 6x65 pc's with 4whites and 2 actinics w/3 powercords per fixture next week. oh its 8'x2'x2'.

think thats big, just got word I got accepted by a HUGE WHOLESALER, looking at picking up a 370gal from the cities, got a great deal on that to. a LFS and myself are going into business together, within 2 months we'll have our stock in, going to blow everyone out of the water around here...........want some sample prices? 8 species of clowns (7.50-10.00) 20 species of butterflys 6.00-20.00, 10 species of tangs 7.00-20.00. get the idea? GOODBYE PETCO

will have complete price list ready in about a week, gotta get a few dozen small tanks set up and running to get a little stableization for starters anyway we're looking at the 10 footer for our showroom tank. going to be great, should have liverock for $4/pound. and we're going to ship everywhere, look out SWF.com anyway. busy days ahead. will be in touch.

I'd ditch the 65w PC's on a tank that size. If you're going to do any type of SPS, or even LPS, you'd need to keep them on the top 1/3 of the tank. Leaves too much for shrooms, Zoos, and other things that multiply more than mice. IMO, I'd only go with MH, with VHO Actinics. Especially since you plan on starting up your own store....good luck

the store will have other stuff, but 6x65's? thats 330watts......PER side of the tank. not doing sps's but some lps, and softies, shouldn't that be enough. the store is a go....willopen in few months, got the pricelist in hand and gonna hit it hard, will ship and WILL be lower than internet sites that sell saltwater. retail store/internet prices same, come pick up some LR at 3.75/pound or a nice yellow tang at $12.00 or a great clown(8 species) at 8.00, how about a snowflake eel for $10.00? like that.........=)
