Thanks John (jjwdiver)!

Thanks to John for the many corals...

For those that didn't know, jjwdiver had a horrible hair algae outbreak that pretty much wiped out his tank. He let me bring some stuff home to try to rehab.

John - most of the zoos haven't really opened yet, but I had to get a little rough with them to get rid of the hair...

Hopefully, John can get his tank going again soon!!

Jodi

Scott, Jodi & David...Thanks for the rescue of my stuff!

It really sucks that I had to shut the thing down. So frustrating and not to mention very embarrasing. I feel like a shmuck for letting the hair algae get out of control but life happened and threw a loop in the mix.

I vow revenge

I will be back up and running, but probably not until August or shortly there-after. Once the job change settles down I will have loads of stress off and more time to play. In the meantime, I will be rebuilding the sump, saving up for a bigger main tank, and generally getting my $#it together before starting again.

I might even try my hand at making rockwork for the tank...we'll see.

Thanks again for taking the stuff. I hope it all does very well. Nothing like freebies to spread the joy! Like I told you all, use it, frag it, give it away. I'm not looking to get it back, but if there are frags when the time comes I wont turn them down.

I will be lurking on the forum and hopefully getting to some meetings. Gotta get my fix somewhere!!!

John

So sorry to hear about the problems, John. I had a WAY-BAD hair algae problem along with some caulerpa gone wild at one point. Hours and hours spent pulling and scrubbing and it seemed to do no good.

Now that all the livestock is gone, if you still have the tank up you might try leaving it with no lights and run some serious carbon and a polyfilter. The hair algae will die, the carbon and polyfilter will remove (hopefully) most of the organic matter and in a couple of months with water changes you'll be ready to go again.

Any good diving lately?
