Thank goodness for battery powered air pumps!!!
We lost power for about 5 hours last night, I am pretty sure that if it were not for battery powered air pumps I would have had some losses in my tanks. I highly recomend them. They are pretty cheap and can be a real life saver. The ones I bought even have a plug so I can plug them in when I leave and they only turn on if power is lost.
This was Tristan's first really big storm, he took it pretty well. Other than the loss of power we had a snapped tree and there were other trees blown down across the neighborhood and most of my landscaping is pretty flat and missing a lot of leaves. I am hopeful that most things will spring back.

Power was only out for a few minutes at a time last night for me, but a lot of tree branches came down. I am definately investing in a solid automatic battery backup pump for the 125. Unfortunately the ones that are under $20 get terrible reviews for reliability in terms of coming on automatically, so I'll probably spring for one of the $50-80 ones.

I had a nasty suprise when I stopped home today at lunch. The 90 was running but not the 58. I strung a extention cord from my dining room to my living room to at least run the pump & heater. After a period of freeking out and making phone calls I found out that sometime after I left for work this moring Excel cut half the power to my house. Talk about a nasty suprise. At least I learned something today; Even after the storm when you think you have power the power company may cut some or all of the power to your house.

I am bringing home a UPS from work tonight. It should be able to run my pump for over an hour.

Well I am happy to say that after more plot twists than a soap opera I am back a full power, and it should stay that way.

Suprisingly they seem to be in pretty good shape. The 58 went a total of 8 hours with out power and another 6 of pumt + heater only. The 90 got by with only 5 hours of no power. Lucky I guess.

When one considers the length of a flight in a plastic bag that many fish & corals make from say, Fiji, 5 hours in a large box of water without circulation, filtration, etc. would be a cake-walk!
