New in Area
Hi, Let me introduce myself. My name is Dean and
I live in Pine Island MN. I have been reef
keeping for some ten years now. I divorced about two
years ago and sold off my coral reef. I am now starting
to get back into it. Here is a little information about my
tank as it is now:
Equipment:
I have a 40 gallon breeder tank.
With a 10 gallon sump and a pump that returns
water at a rate of 500 gallons/hour.
I run a home made 6 foot 6 inch round protein skimmer.
I run 1200 gallons/hour through it.
I use four large lime wood air stones.
I also use ozone at 100 mg/hr.
I have a chiller be have not had to use it
on this tank yet.
I run 2-65 watt compact florescent actinic bulbs 10 hours a day.
And 1-400 watt metal halide 15,000K bulb 8 hours a day.
Live stock:
1 Nemateleotris magnifica Firefish
1 Zebrasoma veliferum Sailfin Tang
1 Chromis viridis Green Chromis
1 Amphiprion frenatus Tomato Anemonefish
1 Ophiarachna incrassata Brittle star
1 Sabellastarte spectabilis Tube worm
1 Tubipora musica Organ-pipe coral
1 Euphyllia divisa Frogspawn coral
1 Plerogyra sinusa Bubble coral
1 Trachyphyllia geoffroyi Open brain coral
1 Oulophyllia crispa Brain coral
1 Euphyllia ancora Hammer coral
1 Merulina amplicata Ruffled coral
1 Phymanthus spp Rock anemone
1 Lobophytum sp Devil’s finger
1 Sarcophyton sp Common toadstool
1 Cladiella sp Colt coral
1 Xenia spp Pulsing Xenia

The tank has been running for about six months now doing good.

I look forward to meeting people in the Rochester area.

Welcome Dean! Aside from the reef thing...when do you want to go diving? The real local dive season begins as soon as the ice forms!!!
