moonlights?????


just wanting some feed back on moonlight leds wanting to know if good to have or not and what are the pros and cons of them

6' blue strip light at menards....$4 (i have one you can try)

they just look cool at night......some say they help corals do better?
red lights are cool to, you can see the inverts come out and play

oh ok because i have someone selling it for like 15 dollars but if i could see them at menards that would be great what ya if maybe i could just see yours and what i would look for at menards

that sounds good this guy is selling 12 leds 12 resistors and a power supply with insructions but if it is just a strip that would be better

I would like to see what kind of $4 strip light your talking about... Is is christmas tree lights or? Is it LEDs or ?

The real thing is it the right spectrum? need to be between 460 - 480nm.Most leds like from radio shack are like 410nm.so thats not the same wave length.

like i said i am still new i just want t ofind what is best for me and with oyam's know how and by looking at his tank he is doing something correct as well as knowing what he/I need to have a good looking tank i am not saying anyone is correct i just want options ya know so oyam i would like to see what you are using and also see what it looks like on the tank

I believe the only thing moonlights will do is look cool; there should be no effect (good or bad) on your corals.

The effect of the full moon on coral spawning has more to do with tidal influence than light. Having said that, I attended a coral spawn here in April. Here's a pic:




The "smokiness" is the actual spawning. The visibility was extremely good this day, even for Molokini Crater where "bad" visibility is less than 100 feet!

Like i said $4 rope light will give the look.....i dont think you plan to have lots of SPS...or do you?
