Live rock group order?

Checking to see if there is any interest in a group order for some live rock. I need 50-100lbs myself. I havent decided where the best place to order from would be so any info would be appreciated.

TCMAS are doing one.
ReefRocks.
Jns can hook you up.
Dirk, but i dont know his price $$$
I think I am sold out (ill know after today).
Dr F&S have nice deals at times (and they stand by the stuff they sell).
Keep an eye out on TRT or Mayo for deals.
I got some of that DIY stuff you can have (nice base).

Ya I know of the usual suspects. I was thinking Premium Aquatics or Foster & Smith if they would ship via ground instead of second day. I would be willing to try others (Dr. Mac, Reefer Madness, etc.) though, especially if they had a sale.

Try Live Aquaria. I got mine for just over 3 bucks per pound uncured and that was with the LFS's cut included and shipping. I think they are around 1.89 per pound plus shipping and they will do 3 day for about 30 cents per pound to your front door.

I got some fully cured "Premium Fiji" from Premium Aquatics many years ago at a decent price ($3 or $4 a lb plus shipping).

The problem with ground shipping is that you'll get LOTS of die off and have to cure the rock yourself (which seems like a PITA to me). With the 100 pound quantity you're looking at, perhaps a road trip to Premium Aquatics in Indiana would be worthwhile. Jason was great to work with and I believe he'd accomodate a pick up if you had a weekend you could travel. Despite the cost of gas and an overnight stay in a sleaze-bag motel, you'd save lots on shipping 100 pounds (and it would be as quick as overnight!)

If you want to talk shipping cost nightmares, type in my zip code when getting an estimate on shipping (96768), if they even ship here!!

MedicineMan - Can't you go for a swim with a hammer and a chisel to get some liverock?

If I do go for a road trip it would be to the Foster & Smith facility in Wisconsin. I wonder if thats where they store there liverock?

No they ship direct from Fiji via Cali.
the rock costs more at F&S WI.
I had about 150# sold #60 and will sell a bit more thursday.
I should have about 30# to sell if you need some nice seed rock.

My Premium Aquatics rock came with a ton of live stuff on it (including two corals still alive in the tank, and 2 LPS that died during curing), but if you have enough to order, drop ship from Fiji or similar is significantly cheaper. I do recommend either getting it from a good place like PA or getting it shipped directly from the islands, because you might otherwise have significantly more die off to deal with and less biodiversity. Any place that lets the box sit even a couple days out of water is killing part of what you're paying for.

Next item... Season. You are better served ordering live rock in spring or fall, as the heat/cold is less likely to kill everything on the rock. If you can ship in 60-70 degree weather, everything will survive far, far better.

It's VERY "regulated". For example, you can't take rock from the water, only the beach and you can only collect a gallon bucket at a time. Hawaii seems to want to keep most of the ocean in the ocean!
