Iron in the tank?


I am picking up a 300gal next week....going to winter the Koi in it.
it was used as a freshwater planted tank and has some iron stains from plant fertilizer.
will i be able to do a FOWLR later on????
(not copper)

It shouldn't be a problem. A lot of the phosphate remover stuff is made out of rust (usually from a rusted out '72 Chevy Nova ).

I disagree, you can't use that for fish
But I will take it off your hands for you.
300 gal. for your Koi, thought you dug it deep enough for winter.
I just used an ice heater one year and it worked great floated on top and just kept a small opening.

id like to winter few in the pond...then see how it goes.

the others should go dorment in the garge (in the 300)

If you need more space, I have both a 300 and a 600 gallon I've been considering selling because I overwinter my fish in the pond now. Frankly, I'm not willing to accept that winter is on the way, summer isn't even over yet. Maybe when the leaves start to fly...

David, I'm doing okay, still looking for gainful employment and trying to sell the house. On a positive note, I finally have the aiptasia under control.

MedicineMan, I think you need to have a meeting out there so you can show off that aquarium that surrounds Hawaii.
