Idea for Club "Activity"

Hi All;

I had a kind of neat idea that might help the club gel a little bit. One of us could post a short discussion on a particular topic (i.e. Uses for Macroalgae in a Marine Aquarium; Ways to Pick a Protein Skimmer; Why a Deep Sand Bed Is (Not) a Good Idea; etc.) Then, as members read the post and think about it, they could share their thoughts.

On the down side, someone would need to "direct" this activity so that several topics aren't running all at once. Perhaps this would be best accomplished with a "Topic of the Month" sticky note, where someone could say, "Let's have a discussion on Reef Safe Fish: What Makes a Particular Fish Reef Safe or Not. (insert name here), would you care to start the discussion?"

Just a thought...

P.S. For those of you who don't know me, I am also a co-founder, along with John (anyone ever hear from him?), Jodi and Duane.

Actually, thereeftank.com has a "Think Tank" forum, where these topics are already discussed ad nauseum...

Perhaps. I don't go there and thought it would be nice to discuss these things amongst ourselves, people we know.

That might be fun...have a topic of the month or something...especially for those that don't want to frequent the main forum think tank board.

Larry, would you like to be responsible for starting the topic each month?

Sounds good to me. I just don't want to take the time to go research every topic under the sun since I'm not currently setting up a new tank. Thus, I rarely visit the forums that don't deal with this club.

Of course, I already have developed a bunch of contrarian views, as I like my thriving sponge and tunicate population that apparently comes from using a mixed silica and aragonite DSB and not using RO water.

Larry, I am hurt that you did not include me in the "origional members" list, I realized I showed up a month too late for a membership card but it still hurts

Jodi, where is my membership card! You must be running out of excuse by now

How is life surrounded by the big blue? Why have you not posted 100 times more pictures. People love pictures, I am people

Sorry, Michael. For the record, Michael was our first secretary, elected on our first "real" business meeting on October 9th, 2001. (Also for the record, our first "official" meeting was 9/11/01 at my old place in Rochester.)

OK, I can post more pictures but just wasn't sure how people felt about it since they aren't really aquarium related.

Talking

Are you kidding, any reef keeper worth his salt (joke intended) aspires their tanks to be like the real reef. Pictures of where you live and such are all with in a stones throw of the reef so that qualifies for me
