Question

How do you start a club?

Hello members of the RMMAC. I am a friend of Aaron and Michael (insert jokes here). Aaron and I have been tossing around the idea of starting a here in Oshkosh. We are kinda wondering what exactly your club is all about and how it functions. What do you do at meeting, do you have large events, are there dues, where does the money go, do you have written by-laws, etc? Any info would be helpful to get us actually working on the idea!

If I ever have a chance to get away from work I keep telling myself that I will travel out to Mike's for a visit and see what's up!

Thanks,

Jeremy

When you are ready to have a club forum for communications, just drop me a line. Good luck!

Well, ... lots of questions.

First of all we have a very short description of the club in the very first post in this forum titled "***Membership Information "

We became organized for about a year because we were offered a discount at a LFS(Local Fish Store). We had bylaws, dues, elected officers..... Jodi(StellaMN here on TRT) could provide you will all the paperwork if you are interested in being formal. For us when the discount did not happen we relaxed back into an informal club once again. We try to meet at differant members houses once a month on a convient night. For us it is the first tuesday of every month. Who ever is hosting serves some food, some bring frags to swap or just give away, and we talk about the hobby, show off new books, admire the tank of the hosting member, eat, chat, talk about any group activities..... In the past we have taken a field trip to the MN Zoo to get a behind the sceens tour of their aquariums, visited remote fish stores and dealers, ....

BTW(By The Way) I will be in town this weekend for Aaron and Sarah's baby shower. We can talk more about it then. Also I can show you how to get an icon and get rid of junior member.

Hey Michael! Thanks that was very helpful! I will hopefully see you then. I fortunately get done with work at 4 on Saturday so I will be free the remainder of the weekend.

Jeremy

Oh and thanks Greg! I'll keep it in mind!
