I have a vermetid snail as well, F22mech. I knew what that was when I saw it.
I looked up pictures of the acorn barnacle and it looks pretty similar. I also saw one of the other, smaller, barnacles with a 'feather-duster' sticking out this evening. Here is a pic, but it completely stopped moving as soon as the flash hit and I can't zoom enough to show the fine details.

It varies a bit. Camel shrimp are often sold as 'peppermints' and they don't eat aipstasia. Also, some peppermints just don't eat it regularly. I have generally found that if I buy two real peppermints, all my (rather sparse) aipstasia is gone in short order, but the only shrimp-eating fish I have is one poorly behaved cardinalfish.

Thanks for the input, JD. It probably is one, just an older one that got overgrown with other life... corals and coralline. The other barnacles are much more clearly barnacles, but also far smaller.

Unfortunately, no real idea. I can only make guesses based upon the life on it. It was for sale as a coral, not liverock. The zoanthids on it are very small, which usually indicates that they came from bright light to me, plus a lot of barnacles are intertidal. The coralline is a lighter shade of pink. It looks a bit more like Fiji than Tonga to me, but who knows?

I was diving in Fiji in April '05 but don't remember ANY zooanthids. This doesn't mean they weren't there, it's just that there were so many colorful hard and soft coral and fish that it was hard to look at the "macro" life! The best part of the diving was the "safety stop" at 15 feet. All the "bommies" stopped growing up at that point because of the tides. The light was as bright as an aquarium with MH lighting and the colors and biodiversity defy description.

Well Ewof gets their corals from Fish head in LA (California). 99% of your LA based suppliers are supplied out of Fiji and Tonga

Unfortunately, I haven't seen it since I added the rock, so I'm afraid it didn't make it. I do have a still small number of red flatworms for it to eat. If I get a population of them hatching out, I'll be happy to give away any I can catch.

I agree completely with this one...you can buy a handful or more of different creatures that MAY help you with an aiptasia problem but kalk or joes juice WILL eradicaste them EVERY time.
If you only have a handful and dont want to buy joes juice or dont use kalk, get a syringe and put lemon juice in it. Slowly get it up to their mouth and them jab it into their mouth as you squirt. This takes a little talent but you can safely kill ten-15 a day IF you are good at it.......if you are sloppy and accidentally get more lemon juice in your tank than you do in the aiptasia........you should stop at 2 or 3 and then practice again in a couple of days..................
