Dr. Frankenstein Would be proud of my SCWD + Revolutions

My Ocean Currents Oscillator failed and after finding out that Ocean Currents had failed also I knew that I needed to find another wave making solution. I had a few restraints on my search: I did not want to spend hundreds of dollars, I did not want to have to drill the tank in any way, it would have to fit nicely in my 58 gallon tank, and it would have to alternate or rotate the water.

With my criteria in mind I started my search. I found great systems that had big price tags, I found cheap systems that would not move water well, I found awesome surge systems that were bigger than my tank. In the end I found two different systems, each with their limitations, that I though I could combine to make a great water moving system, that would fit well in the tank, and cost about $100.

The first piece of the system was the SCWD. It alternates current between two outlets. On the good side, it was cheap. On the downside, it did not adequately move water around. It only alternated between two fixed points.

The second pieces of the system I put together were two Oceans Motions Version 6 Revolutions. They have three outlets each that rotate 360 degrees but water only comes out 90 degrees. In other words, when the current comes on, the revolution is pushed down 1/2 inch and 1 to 2 of the outlets facing into the tank get water. The outlets pointing at the two sides of the corner have no flow. Since there are three outlets, with different downward angles rotating 45 degrees with each on/off cycle every rotation produces different directions of flow. The second positive about the Revolutions is that they are relatively inexpensive. The negative to the Oceans Motions Revolutions is that the Oceans Motions unit that cycles flow between two outlets is $180 by itself.

My solution was to use the SCWD to alternat the flow and the two Oceans Motions Version 6 Revolutions to randomize the flow. Combined I have a cost effective, creative, working solution to my flow problem.
