Does anyone have a fish trap I can borrow?

I am trying to get my Four Stripe Damsel out of the tank (again) and I was wondering if anyone in the area had a fish trap I could try. I really want this little bugger out.

On a related note, anyone interested in a free, full grown Four Stripe Damsel?

This simple one may work for a wrasse but probably not a damsel. Take a two liter soda bottle and cut it off at the curve at the top. Turn the top upside down and re-insert into the bottle. Attach however you can. Put some of the fish's favorite food inside and then place in the tank. Usually the fish won't be able to find the small hole right away after going in for the food. It'd be best to do this while watching the tank so you can get the desired creature out right away. Be advised that cleaner shrimp WILL get caught, too, but it should be easy enough to separate them from whatever you want out.

As for the damsel, some similar kind of maze may work. I'm pretty sure the full grown 4 stripe damsel won't fit into the soda bottle hole and any hole big enough for it to get into the soda bottle would be too easy for it to find a way out. As a side note, the ancient Hawaiians used to make similar traps but they relied on the tide going out to trap the fish. I don't think any tidal activity in an aquarium would be enough to work for this!

Good luck fish hunting!

Sounds like a neat trick I would like to hear if this works.

David's wrasse is a BIG wrasse. I like the idea though. I wonder if I could use a milk jug or something similar to lure the Damsel and then have some quick way of pulling it out of the tank.

FYI david, the clams is looking marginal. It almost looks like the hole is getting bigger.

It worked for a couple of mantis shrimp I had (after they ate 5 firefish)!

I have one of these you are welcome to. Underwater hunting is not as big of a sport out here as it is in California.

This should be able to get the fish for you!

Seldom does a tool so well match the intent of the user. There is the nagging problem of keeping everything else intact while removing the damsel.
