did it work, yes it did, was it worth it, hard to tell. since the water fountain was free it made it much more worth it. i think the entire thing cost less than $50. i am not sure how much my electricity bill went up because of it though.
it eventually ran out of freon and i replaced it with an A/C unit chiller. much bigger. this cost about $125 to make, but was faster at bringing down the water. i am not sure if i am going to put it back up with the rebuild or not. i am hoping to find a real chiller at somepoint. they are getting less and less expensive so it is becoming crazy to buy into a DIY chiller. when i first did the water fountain chiller, the cheapest chiller was over $500. now they are just under $300. with an A/C unit close to $100 it gets tough to make it worth it.
