Threaded Hose Barbs

Hello DIY'ers

I have been looking everywhere for threaded hose barbs to use with my Mag pumps.

I need several of them. 1 for return pump, 1 for Skimmer and 1 for my Closed Loop.

Flex tubing has it downside I tell ya!

Any ideas on where I can get them? I have checked every Harware store in the area and they claim the MAG pumps are "Garden hose" thread or they dont carry the size I need.

Any info would be much appreciated. I am holding off setting up the new system until I get the threadded hosebarbs.

I have attached a pic of my most recent trip to the LFS. My wallet said OUCH!

why use flex PVC between the sump/pump/skimmer? it looks like you can remove the hose barb from the skimmer and have a normal 3/4" FPT. i thought i saw 1" barb connectors at HD. i can not remember if i saw them going back to a 1" threaded or not. why do you want to use flex PVC? is it for vibration dampening? there are other ways around it. i find i just like to use the normal PVC adaptors are easy to find and trying to fight the inherant coil of the flex PVC is annoying.

Geoff-

This is for a basement sump setup. I need to use Flex PVC for that reason.

those look like Mag 9.5s, if so the outputs are a threaded 3/4" Male PVC connector. I used a 3/4" coupler to turn the male thread into a female thread and then you can get a 3/4" FIP to 1" ID Hose barb. Both items can be found at HD. The hose barb adapters will be in bags hanging on peg hooks, a PITA to find. This is the easiest/cheapest solution I have found and it worked great for me.

Look in the irrigation section not the regular plumbing section. They are grey colored, plastic fittings.

Yeah, Look in the grey section. I just bought those at Lowes for my MAG 9.5, and they fit perfectly. They thread right in and are almost too simple. In my Lowes, they are around all the hose clamps and irrigation system stuff, which is why it took me three trips to Lowe's to find them. I ended up just bringing the pump in the store with me to try all the fittings. They are there... I promise. Just keep looking. Those PVC areas in large hardware stores are a mess, and it can really be overwhelming.. patience...
