tank is growing

Well my plan is to set up a 125g FOWLR
this will be a home for probably a few pred fish.

But the stocking isn't the issue here.

I need to build the stand. I will be draining to the sump and pumping back through holes in the bottom of the tank. I believe this will be done by AGA megaflows.

So anyways this will be a lot of weight compared to my 30g which is on a stand made of this shelving stuff. Its like a compressed board with a white finish. I can't remember the actual name.

Well for this tank I'm not looking for beauty really. Mostly functionality.

My thoughts. Put 4*4s at each of the corner for the main supports. Then put maybe 2*4s in the center at the back and front.
Around the bottom and the top put 2*4s then siding can be plywood.

Make sense or sound good?
is this strong enough to support a 125?
what suggestions do you have?

sounds plenty strong to me if the 2X4's are on edge around the top and the bottom of the stand. the plywood will make it even stronger.

When I read the header,I thought you had one of those new tanks with the rubber walls(the more water you put in the bigger it gets!)

That stand was made for a 135gal. With the legs on the corners, and support in the middle this stand would hold a 150gal easy. It's just static weight. But if you are leary just add another 2x4 inside the middle legs to double it up. Not going anywhere.

Fish Only With Live Rock

It's not real important to this thread, or the stand, but that's it!
