sump noise

just installed my sump with a hob overflow and a mag 5 pump. i ran all 1" line for the overflow drain and ran it into the sump but now getting a bad bubbling, rumbling from the sump. should i try to discharge at the water level to get rid of the noise and if so whats the best way? with a 45 elbow or a t of some sort.

For the overflow noise i'm going to try to make a standpipe (stockman/duroso) tonight to see if that will cure the gurgling sounds that it makes. but would a discharge standpipe work to cure the bubbling, something like a t with one end venting above the water level or would you still have the bubbling effect at the end of the pipe.

i'm also looking for some kind of thin sound dampening material to maybe help dampen the sound inside the cabinet.

I run mine deep to the bottom of the sump with a filter sock on it helps with trash and bubbles but has to be changed frequently.

T469,

That will work - use that stand pipe idea if you haven't doen it already.

It worked for me. I always got that loud bubbling not to mention that salt spray. I have a 1" feeding my sump and I used a 1 1/4" or a 1 1/2" stand pipe fitted to it. Larger works better in my opinion.
