Sump?

I want to set up a 10 gallon sump under my 55 gallon (a 10 is all the fits) and i want to throw some stuff in there to help with nitrates since i have a large bioload now. how would i go abouts doing so?

You would need an overflow box, a return pump, some pipe and fittings. The overflow box would drain into one end, the return pump in the other end pumping it back to the tank. Then add some macro algae in the sump/refugium. How far you go beyond that will depend on what else you want to do in the sump.

But, how much Live Rock is in your display? And, how large is a "large bioload"? It might be time to thin it out some.
