Stand plans

I'm wanting to put together a stand for a 75gal AGA tank. 48"x18". I've looked at a lot of stand plans, but can't find any that don't look like a bunch of squares sitting side by side.. meaning, most of the plans I've seen are very simplistic and not much use. In fact, most of them look like they really have a lot of useless pieces in them that look like they should be supportive, but really aren't.

Also, on a 48" tank, I assume I'll need at least one center brace, unless I wanted to use 4x4's or 2x6's to build it... Is one center brace enough across a 4' span?

If anyone has any good links to sites with plans I'd be much obliged.

Check out www.Garf.org. In the DIY section they have a calculator and plans for building a stand. Be sure to use galvanized screws or your stand could be falling apart in a few years.

That is one of the sites I was looking at. But it's also one where it has me putting a bunch of wood in the stand that really isn't that structural. it looks like it should be nice and strong, but it's putting a lot of wait on the shear value of the wood screws. I saw a stand on Reef Central recently that actually had some good structural joints and didn't rely on the shear strength of screws... I'll have to try and find that one again.
