Stand - Is 40" tall too tall?

I hate to bend over to look into an aquarium. So in planning for my 120 gal, I would like to build the stand and make it 40" tall. Makes it easier to view and plenty of room underneath for equipment. What do you think?

I think it's fine. My 370 was 38" and my 190 is 42"...

My 150 is about 43" high. I've a 4' ladder in the house to do maintenance. Maybe I should just invest in stilts?

Oop, sorry Kelli! Though thinking about it a little more, stilts+tile+water spills is probably not the best solution.

he has a 4' ladder for work but I don't want him to realize I could reach the bottom if he brought it in ! I prefer him doing the bottom maintenance

yup.

plus, consider the center of gravity. I have a tank right now that's being used for temp purposes and it's too tall IMO for the depth ( front to back ). I am scared to death that our new Great Dane will decide to pull it down LOL

I like taller stands. No bending over to look in the tank. You may have to get something to stand on to clean the tank but visually it will be more appealing. I would not worry about the center of gravity being too high.

I prefer my stands higher as well...since im not usually sitting to look at my tank....My next stand will be about 48" tall so its about eye level.

Diver Down !

The only way to clean your tank
I like my tanks at about eye level from the sofa when sitting so the 40" range is a good bet. Just be mindful of your center of gravity if your going with a tall tank.
