Question

Spiderlight reflector orientation?

Is it better to mount the Spiderlight reflector with the bulb parallel or perpendicular to the front of the tank? This would be for 3 MH over a 180G - 6' tank.

Thanks

most do parallel to the front. keeps the hot bulbs out of the way when you lift the hood. other than that i do not think that there is a big difference either way.

the instructions that come with the reflector say perpendicular but with my three foot tank it was a real pain to have any more light than the mh, no room, so I put them parallel, couldn't tell that it made any difference light-wise (didn't lux it) but much easier putting PC's in there also.

Perpindicular....that way the best lighting comes from the bulb and reflector like an upside down "V". you'll get more light across the tank, and less on the glass, which would happen if mounted parallel. Parallel, your best lighting would be halfway up the front and rear glass. I learned this today, and just got done myself resetting the bulbs in my canopies I'm building for my 46 and 90.
