Ok all it’s back to the drawing board with the skimmer plans.
As I have been trying to find a
(240V) needle wheel pump for some time with no luck, the only ones that are
240V will cost megabucks. It’s back the venturi skimmer idea something a long the diagram below for my 328 US gallon tank. I have all the acrylic now and someone to cut it for me. The main
reaction chamber is 8" tube which can be up to 39", and all the other bits of pipe work bar the pump. I just have a couple of question for you all out there.
What size of pump
gph would I need for this skimmer?.
What size venturi, something like Kent Marine Venturi - 3/4in or bigger?.
Is this skimmer overkill for a tank this size with mainly soft corals and some sps with lots of fish?.
I see on Reef Central website the DIY section most people go for a needle wheel design skimmer, as I mentioned in my last post a needle wheel pump in the States are plentiful but here in 240V land are like rocking horse S**t are venturi skimmer just as good?.
Thanks again for all your feedback
