salvage something i hope

Okay im hoping the experts can help me salvage something from this rookie mistake i made. like a dummy i bought a skimmer without researching and picked the worst one possible, a fission nano skimmer ( its AWFUL!!!!) and im hoping that maybe i could use some of the parts to build my own functioning skimmer.

I haven't ever made anything myself and i did an internet search but didnt come up with much, does anybody have any tips or ideas of how i could turn this into something that works?

Im sorry i even have to ask this question but any advice is appreciated.

One of those? They are barely good for parts. If that isn't the one you have, post a link to yours or post pics of it.

You could possibly try making the body taller but not sure if the pump will push the head pressure or not. I can't tell from the pics how its made internally but it may be a good candidate for a phosban/carbon reactor.
Feed water in the bottom, drain it out the top. Fill it with media. A few mods but might be worth it.
