Great stuff! I'm very interested in how the serial relay works. Does it just fire off on/off events to outlets? Is there any 2-way communication possible (ie temp sensing?) if so, can you write code to respond to certan events?

The box does have 4 inputs, so I hope to expand and use a temp sensor and possibly a pH sensor in the more distant future.

Each relay has a slot for Common, Normally Open, and Normally Closed. I have that valve which wires into BOTH normally open AND normally closed to open or close the valve whenever the relay switches.

It's a very sweet set-up!

Cool, What brand is the box? Do you have any links about it?

Here is the link where I bought it.

http://www.electronickits.com/kit/co...lec/ck1610.htm

It has specs in a downloadable pdf, as well as the software that runs it. It has a VERY easy interface. download the software and play with it. You can mess with the software without having the box, it just doesn't run anything!

The box totaled about $70, and I spent about another $80 on wiring it. The fixtures I had already, just a matter of wiring them right in.

I'm no electrical engineer, and I was able to figure it out enough to explain it to a guy who could figger how to do it.

It is up and running right now!
