if youre talking about a berlin then there are basically 2 easy mods to make them work better.
1. remove the stock venturi and add either a Kent or Mazzei venturi.
2. go to a 700-800 GPH pump also.
some people use a mag5 with good results and others reccomend a mag7.

oh..and a third mod....tear it apart and DIY a real skimmer! which is what i will be doing this weekend or next.
i plan on making a copy of an ETSS Evolution with the parts from the Berlin.

Thanks for the reply, Its the HO (hang on) skimmer. The flow rate is esaily within that range, large pump with reosat to adjust to where I wish. I've read of replacing the venturi, but i was wondering if there was any beckett mod or if it was even possable. If I was to change out the venturi what size mazzei should I go with? Thanks.

i have the 3/4" Kent, i have heard of others using the 1/2" Mazzei since it is so much better but i personally cant say since i have had one. i dont think you could beckett this skimmer as it sits. you would have to DIY one from the berlin to do that, it could be done though! it would no longer be a HOT though. even after the mods on mine it still acts like a koolaid stirring machine than a skimmer.

i am going to part mine out and make the evolution style and then i will also make a venturi style since i have the kent, we will have to see which is better.
let us all know how the mods go for ya!

wow! bringin back an old thread!
i never did tear it apart yet. I snagged a great deal on an AquaC Ev. I do still plan on either using it as a phosphate reactor or let it collect more dust!
