recirc needlewheel pumps

I found this, but it is there away to hook it up as your recirc pump? The "enlarged picture" doesn't help.

Any recirc pumps with needlewheels already? That don't cost an arm and a leg.

ALso do you need that curve outlet, couldn't you just put a gate valve at the bottom and uuse it to control height?
