Powerhead Magnet Mount

Anybody here use neodymium (sp?) magnets to mount a PH to the glass? Think it might work...but I don't know how large of the magnets I need...and it it would affect the PH at all. Just trying to think of a moveable, more reliable method than suction cups.
Thanks,
Jon

I would think that if it were to powerful a magnent that it would disturb the impeller. The magnetic pull wouyld beocme uneven i think.

that should work, but i would encase it in epoxy just to be sure. those magnets are pretty strong so it would not take a big one in order to hold up a PH.

There's a website that has small neodymium magnets for quite cheap! I was thinking about trying these out.

I think it could be a relatively cheap answer to suction cup dilemmas!

Fwiw, I just picked up a couple of used MJ12's from a local reefer and he'd simply glued them to some cheap magfloats. Makes it real easy to position them exactly where you want. Ought to be helpful come cleaning day as well.

Cheers!

Hmm...that would add length...something that for my app...wouldn't be too good right now. Great idea for a larger tank, though!

I am still using Cath's idea. Clothespins or plastic big paper clips on the cord work great.

hmmm...don't quite understand that trick...what do you mean, hang them by their cords? How would they stay in place? Or is that the point...to make random flow?

I'm not following you...sorry

I gave up on sticking them on. I just stick them in a corner and hang them by the cords. They don't move that much as the cord position lets them hang where you want.

The CLS will be finished soon, but this is my ugly solution for now.
