bloat what size tank r you wanting? why 3 sections you only need 1 for a viewing window, call around to everyplace you can find It may be worth to drive a hr or so if you can get it cheaper and you can always look online, you will pay shipping yes But that may still be a better deal.

Acrylic only Tank

Hello All from a Newbie...I been reading (with great intrest) about the tanks everones building .I have just scored 5sheets(1/2"x48"x96") CellCast Acrylic at $65.00 per sheet . I have to drive 2 hrs to pick it up (worth it) I have contacted a company in my area that will cut it (using a CNC Router) at a cost of $495.00 so that Totals out to$820.00 plus gas. I am planing on bulding a 30"x30"x96"(375gal)tank and a17.5"x17.5"x72"(95gal.) sump/refugium.Now here is the ? does anyone have any knowledge about building Acrylic only tanks.I've been told to use Weld-on 4 also not to use it Use a 2 part cement and not to use it use something else .I NEED HELP

Maninthejar, you need to buy them all and then Let me have a few for cost and a lil for you Plus shipping 5 sheets at 65 bucks is a extreamly great deal, Um as for all acrylic tanks yes Weldon is the preferred method there should be some links on this site, Im going to go plywood/ acrylic cause I can make the sides and bottom Extreamly strong and thick. do a search on DIY acrylic tanks, does the person you are buying from have any more acrylic? are they a fabricator or how did you come about to them? talk to you soon Adam

Acrylic only Tank

Addam,Thanks for the reply.Yes I am buying them all I'll need them to do the Tank and Sump/Refugium I'm planning . I dont think he has any more of the 1/2 it was a close out on that size.As for the Weld-on I think that will be the way I go done a lot of searching and reading yesterday and have pretty much decided thats what I'll use.But i'm still open to suggestions.Once I pick the Acrylic up and get cut the real fun begins. The preson I'm buying it from is willing to cut it ,but he only has a saw no CNC Router .I think the CNC will give me a much better surface to join.Since this will be my first tank I need all the help and information I can get.So if you or any of the other TRT members have any suggestion on,filtration, pumps, plumbing, tank building, skimmers well you get the picture I'm open to any and all suggestions.Again Thanks for the reply,Talk later.ManInTheJar
