I think the main problem with a tank over 24" tall is being able to reach the bottom...
I have a heckuva time placing stuff on the bottom of my 24" tall tank... I can't imagine adding another foot to it.
I guess you'd just have to put on the ol' mask and snorkel...
I think it's time to buy stock in whatever electrical company services that area...

I just ordered a great white algea cleaning magnet. That should come in handy. I only have 3 feet of clearance from the ceiling to my tank and I have to build a canopy for my Metal Halides. Im still brain storming. lol Maybe some type of pully system or a way I could slide them from over the tank?

Hey Darrell ... nice looking tank ... you mentioned on your website that you are sealing with " Chlorinated Rubber " ... what exactly is that and where did you get it ? ... further down you mention epoxy prior to glass installation so are you sealing with this rubber paint and then using epoxy over that ? ... I also looked for glass thickness but did not see it specified anywhere ( maybe I just missed it ) ... Thanks for your response

Rasta how are you the Chlorinated rubber is a single pack epoxy so the supplier tells me it is used in portable water tanks (i.e safe to drink from once cured.)the product is made by Swiftvulc and i got it from a local paint store here in Aus.Once i have applied 3 coats i will then plumb the tank as this will make life easier doing before the glass install for access to inside the tank, and the for glass i am going to use will be 1/2 inch float as i cannot justify the extra cost in the starfire product, i will apply a nice even bead all the way around the rim and the starting from the bottom of the tank lay the glass down evenly towards the top as this will give me a good tight seal.My weirs i have routed a 12mm slot in the bottom and sides for extra strength and i will use 12mm acrylic
which i can get with a mirror finish one side i will face this side in to the tank i think that would look great the weirs will be positioned after all the sealing is complete they will be just siliconed in.

Guys i am about 2 weeks away from glass install and 3 weeks for the test fill as we are on water restrictions here im not sure if i'm allowed to use that much water (heavy penalties)may have to bypass the meter but all going well (fingers crossed i may be able to install tank at home in 6 weeks. The budget is already looking sad but thats why we all got to work i suppose ,in 8 weeks after the arrive of my skimmer(Aqua-Medics 5000 twin)i will order my LR in three lots,as for the subsrtate thats not a prob i have sourced 350 Kilo,s of ready to be delivered at any stage and lights i have already got 6 1000w MH. As i go i will post pics for everyones suggestions.

the only thing i might be concerned with, is having two scwds on one pump. i've heard they slow down the throughput on a pump. so two might be even worse. though i'm not familiar with how powerful a laguna is.
you MIGHT be better off with an option like this :

from what i have read the SCWD's switch really fast at high flow rates. i am thinking it would not exacly make waves in the tank. the water will be switching directions to fast.

I have also been discussing this on another board and as you guys have mentioned the units will be out of sync, so now what i am proposing to do is keep two units but they will have a dedicated pump each. This should provide an interesting uneven flow in my tank , maybe become more interesting than just an even wave motion.
What do you guys think ????????
