I always wanted to try this one for small rays or cat sharks.

Had this 10 foot round pool setup in my garage for a few months as a temp holding tank.

I have multiple tanks in my garage with no problem. Of course, I'm in Florida so it doesn't get overly cold. I run 3 250w stealth heaters in my 250gallon frag system and it never drops below 78.

Heating a tank is really the easy part. Heaters are cheap and uncomplicated. Cooling a tank on the other hand is a much different story.

If I were to go as far as to keep rays. I think I'd go for broke. I rescently oversaw a berming project at one of my field plants. We had to be able to contain 600bbl inside our tank farm. So we had a contractor build us a cement retaining wall 120 feet long by 50 feet wide by 3.5 feet high. Now I know this would be a bit much for a hobbyist to undertake. But the concept would work. We basically made and above ground cement pool. You could go with a 20x20x3 and I think it would work great. Depend on where you lived though. Because it would most surely have to be constructed in a backyard. For an overflow you could use a pool/pond style surface skimmer. Heck if you lived in a good enough climate you could dig and line a pond for them.
