Has anyone tried plumbing their tank with this new stuff called PEX pipe. My uncle is owns a plumbing shop and they don't even use PVC anymore they use this stuff. It claims to be Non-corrosive. Tony

my normal thinking is if it is potable to humans, than it is worth a try for the tank. some plastics to leach phosphates more than others, but this may be minimal with this plastic, do not know.

why do you want to use this stuff? i find working with solid PVC the easiest.

make absolute certain you crimp the ends tight with the special pliers!
pex is real easy to work with but complicated when it comes to aquariums since aquariums and accessories are all based on PVC and tubing. many of the fitting for pex are metal too. you may be hard pressed to find all the doodads and fittings needed for a reef tank for pex.

as a builder like me: i stopped allowing it to be used in my homes due to the fact of how leak prone it is. i went back to CPVC or copper.
