PC ballast question

Ok, so im looking for options on lighting for my upgraded 10 gallon nano.
I think I would like a 96w quad tube for this tank, and hellolights has a good deal on a 2x96w ballast, but I only need 1 bulb as two wont fit over my tank.
My question is would I be able to run only 1 of the bulbs and just leave the other not plugged in? Thanks in advance.

you should be able to. you might need to do some minor rewireing though. flourescent ballasts are rated by total watts they can support. it does not matter how many bulbs it it. see if they have a one one bulb version and see if they have the wire diagram for it. most ballasts come with wire diagrams on them anyway.
