New DIY top for nano 10

Well I've been wanting to do this since I started my nano 10. I had the glass top to cover it because of my banded eel (he is a jumper) . Plus I wanted more of the 65watt light to get in the tank that the glass top stopped. First I purchased a sheet of the waffle plastic from Home Depot. Then I cut it to size and used my dremel to grind the plastic down smooth. (watch face plastic frags due burn...lol) I then cut around my filters and ground smooth with dremel. Here are the final results.

Very Nice!!

that eggcrate is fun stuff to work with. it is great that the squares seem to be just the right size for fitting around odd plumbing parts.

Looks great. I love all the options available to the 10g. It really draws out a lot of creativity. Do you still have the glass top? How's your evaporation rate?

Thanks guys! Johnny I still have the glass top but not on that tank. I put the top on another FW 10 gallon I had. As for the evaporation, I just made it today and I'll let you know. I'm going to do a water change next tuesday and I'll let you know how much it dropped from today until then.

i think you will be very surprised at how much water will evaporate by then. you will prolly need to top off daily, so that the salinity will not change drastically after the WC.
