New 270 gallon up and coming
Hello all,
I am new here but wanted to share my project with you. This is part of a total basement finishing project. Started rough construction end of August and to date we are pretty close to gettting the paint on the walls. I am using an H&S A-200 external with twin 1260's on it, Scuran JS1 reactor with masterflex pump, Wave box, 3 6080 streams, 2 6100 streams, and Iwaki 100RLT with four penductors. Lighting is with 4 VHOa nd 2-250 watt 10-14MH in Luminarcs. The sump is a custom dual flow design for two seperate frag areas as well as a place for the ZEO reacotor and flossing sponges, carbon, ect. Going to control it all with an AQII
With reef ceramics in the tank (trial fit)

This is the sump
The sump is 48-30-18
This is the viewing room for the aquarium. I felt it necessary to have my own space in the house for this. This ipicture is from before we tapped in there.

It is made in Germany and they use (from wht I understand) a matrix of calcium and magnesium in the product. The shapes are outstanding also and hard to duplicate with actual ocean rock. This rock is pourus and will become encrusted with coralline. I have a friend who also used this in his 275 gallon. The procedure with this is to cure it and use a silicate remover compound in a power filter. There si residual silicates in teh product from thefiring process. My friend did have a diatom bloom because he neglected this step but now you cannot really tell that his live rock is artificial. For its size it is extrememly light compared to love rock.

that is some pretty neat stuff!!
if it is so light, than why do they need a forklift to move it.

Interesting looking rock. I will have to look into it when ever i upgrade my tank to a larger one. I like the idea of it covering the back wall of your tank looks nice!

Anyone know of a good online/mail order place to get the fake rock from? I love the cavey pieces.
Thanks,
Dan

Here it is to date The electrician will be over Monday to finish up the electrical (hooking up the breakers) for the heaters, etc.....
The skimmer is fed on gravity directly from the tank and I ahve two valves for that. One is to close it and the other is for tuing it in. Figured this would get the most out of it by feeding raw tank water. Taht little U on the left is the feed to the H&S skimmer.
We used a PVC bender to plumb the tank and avoid 90 deggree joints and as many failure points (joints) as possible on this set up.
LAst is the video I took of teh wave box running on the tank a few weeks ago. It starts out blurry but will clean up I promise
