My Project

Hi everybody.. Thanks for all support in here. My 40gallon project is almost complete. Heres pictures of my DIY stand I made with some 2X4's using a hand saw and a drill (No power saw!) Took a while but only cost me about 26.00 bucks to make!! I also painted the background of my fish tank blue, Wasnt a pretty sight doing it in my apartment bathroom... I ended up painting the entire bathroom as well, with all the fumes- I wasnt really thinking! Right now I am turning my acrylic 10 gallon into a sump which is below my tank in the picture. So anyone have any blueprints on theres? Right now I just have the basics... the plumbing in and out of the sump. I want to put a skimmer and heater in there as well... Kinda pushing it but I think it will work. Thanks everybody you guys are awesome!

Tsk, tsk. I think I saw a power tool in the first picture. Shame, shame. I have a 29g display running through a 10g DIY sump. I like it and it houses my skimmer and heater as well as having a media shelf for PhoBan and carbon. I'll find a pic for ya.

Yea that was a power drill not a power saw.. I did go buy a power saw but it was way too loud in my apartment, so I had to use a hand saw. Anyways thanks for the picture of your sump. What is the black thing in the right bottom corner? And what kind of pumps are you running? Looks very complicated for my eyes... And how many dividers do I need? I am thinking 2 making my sump a 3 compartment sump.. is that good enough? Thanks!

I am useing a Rio 2500 rated at 700+ GPH but due to my near six foot of head it knocks it down to a tad under 300GPH. In hindsight I'd put my "under" baffles closer to the bottom of the tank. That and I'd raise my "over" baffles a bit as well. Space between over and unders is an issue as well but I only had a given amount of space to work with. That black thing is two "bio-sponges" out of an old whisper 30-60. It's kind of a last bubble reducing measure.
