The venturi in the pic above is just a tad off. In that pic it shows 1/4" OD tubing and an air line nipple being used. This is the new venturi I'm using:

Most people find that venturis can be loud and annoying. I made a venturi silencer which makes any venturi dead silent without any restriction what so ever. Many stuff a container with filter floss which does cause air restriction (maybe not much, but does restrict). Some run a long length of hose from their venturi behind the sump somewhere. A long length of hose to a venturi can cause restriction of air too.

RandyStacyE- that is a nice design there!! where on earth did you find those floor drains. i have not seen anything like those at Lowe's around here. i would have swooped them up also for my skimmers if i would have seen them. i may have to look around again and see if i am just blind or something.

Geoff,

They were sitting in the same isle as the PVC pipe and fittings. 3" pipe fits over the top and fits 2" inside it. I used it with the 2" clear PVC inside it.

It would have been ideal to use a 3" Union and 3" clear PVC, but would take a bit of modification to the drain fitting. I think the skimmer is running beyond my expectations and I don't even have it running recirc yet. I have all of the info on the sticker if you want it.

if you can give me the model number off of the floor drain i can see if i can hunt it down at the Lowe's around here. since those big home destruction stores use local suppliers i still may be out of luck.

They do not slip snug and tight over the pipe. I just glued it on top of the 6" pipe.
