Looks like it will be a top notch reactor. Please keep the pics coming as you progress.

I've heard of people with 2 chambers have the effluent from chamber 2 pour into a cup that has the ph probe dipped in it... the effluent just overflows the cup into the sump... the cup doesn't have to be anything fancy - anything from tupperware to McD's dipping sauce cup

I could also do a "T" like TDWYATTS comming off the 2nd chamber and just use a "U" trap so the probe is always submerged. Then into the Sump.

well I guess another option is a "whole tank" controller. Just trying to save a lil $$$ till I see if the thing works...

I have a Milwaukee PH controller and have been very happy with it. It has worked great for over a year now.

I think they don't hold their calibration. I am having a hard time searching for the exact reason but I think it was the calibration.

Maybe you could sweet talk someone into letting you borrow a controller for a day--just to make sure you're on the right track.

How often do they need to be calibrated even the "good" ones? Being a Quality Manager I'm all about calibrating instruments will I need to do it weekly/monthly/yearly?

Just some tips when it comes to calcium reactors.
1. The flow in the chambers should be from bottom to top to prevent channeling.
2. Your closed loop from the pump should be plumbed from the top of the reactor. This way you dont have to worry about adding a burp line, and it helps to recirculate any unused co2.
3. The ph probe should without a doubt be in the first chamber or inline with the closed loop of the pump,as the ph in the second chamber will be slightly higher.
The second chambers sole purpose is to raise the ph of the water so your not constantly dumping water that is very low in ph back into your tank.
Besides those remarks above your design looks very solid.
