moveing tank question


hi.. havent been around in a wile my 125 is ready to get water now !! wateing on pumps and boom ! got my secound tank up !! any way i might be moveing soon and i buildt that darn thing very very heavy with 2 by 6 ... i have a closed look thats under the stand were pipes go under beams at the top of the stand ... how would i move this monster ?takeing apart my pipes and moveing the tank off the stand and moveing the each one buy one would make me not wont to set it up with water write now and thats the only thing i thought of to move it ! any one got some info ?

Only way is a complete tear down and move.....sorry...

i thought so i just wish it was easer ! the tank is soo heavy and soo is the stand !

I agree on tearing it down and moving it and then setting it back up, The problem with trying to leave things intact is breaking thing and maybe even the tank at a fitting, It's not hard to move large tanks if you plan ahead and have friends that can help

heard !


well i quess ill be wateing too see whats goning to happen ive done this project for a long long time ! i started be for my doughter was born and now next week shell bee 1 so its been more thin a year and iam done ~! allmost ~! lol.... just wish thir was a easyer way have any one heard of a company that would move the tank ? probley would cost too much too

You can use dollies and /or hand cart.

true that...but most times you need to get the tank and stand on the dollies....guess we are talking about a lot of weight here...as always with this hobby.....let us know if you pull this off....GooD LucK!!

You can find people to move them for a charge, I did it for 2 years, Not as hard as you think,

You can contact your LFS and they can either move it or get you in contact with someone who can. It isn't cheap though. It was going to cost me more to move my 120 than the setup cost me. All I had to do was tell them to move it. I didn't have to do anything but pay the bill. 1800 dollars plus fish/invert care fees. The total bill was going to be close to 2200 dollars.

How much would you guess the empty tank and stand to weigh though? If you cut the plumbing, and put it back together with union couplings, it would make it a lot easier to move it next time if you have to move it again. And, makes maintenance easier if you use the union couplings.

Good luck with it, whatever way you decide to move it. I have to move my 90 and 120 soon and I am not looking forward to it.
