Mounting compact flourescent lights?

I just purchased a 14" Nano ballast kit that comes with the ballast, reflector, power plug, socket, etc. It should be ready to run when it arrives, however I was looking for suggestions as to what I should mount it in? I would like to have something that resembles a hood or light strip if possible. I was thinking of buying one of those cheap hoods for the 5.5 gallon aquariums, and pulling out the incandescent bulb, reflector, and socket, and seeing if I could mount my new kit in that somehow. I was wondering what other people have done to make a nice looking cover for their DIY kits? Any info or design ideas would be great. Thank you.

I built a hood for my tank and have them mounted in that, I have mounted bulbs in a plastic light strip before and it works good.

Either way - build a hood yourself or use the premade ones and take the guts out of it. Just make sure the premade on will have enough room for your setup, though
