More... cheap moonlighting
Power supply from a computer - Goodwill for $10-15?
LED setup: http://www.frozencpu.com/cgi-bin/frozencpu/lit-48.html ~12.50 + 7 shipping (eek on the shipping)
Little time and fun... splice and tape, no resistors or anything and now ya got moonlighting.

Casey, I did the exact same thing. How does leaving the ship on work? I took the ship off mine. It is a little more focused now. I guess I should have tried it with it on first. heh heh. Have a pic of it on your tank at night?

I'm gonna order some LED's off this website, that are specifically 470nm, gonna build a PSU out of a AT computer PS - and run fans and LEDs off that. 4 Blue and maybe 4 White and 4 Red all on independant switches.

If you want to focus the light, break off the sail ship part. Also, to share what I just found... at Super Target, in the automotive section, they had these 2 montable (directional) blue led lights that plugged into a cigarette lighter. I am going to see what it takes to switch these over to a normal AC plug and let you know how well they work. The great things about these are, they are small, mount to the hood with ease, and I can point them where I want them. (Just by rotating and tilting). So, we will see.
