Question

Mogul socket wiring

I am in the process of making a bracket for my mogul sockets(not wired). 2 questions come to mind.
1-distance of lamp from spider light reflectors.
2- should sockets be 3 wired or 2.

TIA

If I am understanding the question right, I would try to mount the lamp about 2" from the reflector.
I believe my mogul sockets are blk to center, white to threaded shell , ground if used would go to the reflector, you might want to confirm this

Why make it - they are pretty less $$ - It's just usually two wires that is supplied with most mogul sockets - black -power and white (common) return.

But mine are about 3" on center from the reflector and as Doug mentioned black is center and white is the socket or shell

i agree the socket and reflectors are the cheapest part of the MH setup. most of the time you can get both pices for around $30. these reflectors will be better than anything you can do DIY.

I just ordered the Moguls from PFO dealer here in town. I spent to much wasted time tryin to save a few bucks. Should have ordered the sockets when I got the new reflectors.
In the States prices are good but up here in Canada we get gouged.Im finding it cheaper to order stuff from the States directly cause we have to pay 2 types of taxes and a huge bump up prices from the local supplies. Those reflectors are $32 US but to buy in Canada we are pushin $75 Canadian.

Exchange rate is 20 cents on the dollar plus Goods and service tax of 7% & Provinical tax of 8% & brokers fees( unless you can get them to send it as a replacement part then no charge) plus store markup. I usually go thru Premium Aquatic and they work with me on this.
That 75 dollars is on line stores regular LFS would be more.

SO ouch is right LOL
