Here is the home page for Danner, the manufacturer of mag drives http://www.pondmaster.com/index.htm . They have some specs. on there, but I didn't see any pressure ratings.

I spent this weekend putting together my new Foam Injection (Eductor Driven) protien skimmer for my tank. It's based off some discussion and a HOT prototype that Galleon came up with.

I've modified it to be free standing and also changed the direction that the water is directed within the body. In the original design, it shot the bubble/water mixture upwards in the body, but I didn't like how that would cut the contact time, so I directed it downward. This was originally avoided because it would shoot bubbles out the return, but I added a sealed inner pipe that keeps the mixture contained so that it has to "turn around" and head back upwards before it can turn back downwards toward the bottom exit and flow between the inner pipe and outer body. You can see an old schematic for my new design as one of the last posts in that other thread.

It's hard to explain in words. The earlier posted schematic shows the water & bubble flow far better/easier than I could describe.

I've been taking pics the whole building process and will be putting together DIY plans. Needless to say since I'm still in the process of setting up my tank, I haven't run it on a tank, but from my "deck testing" it looks very promising. It produces enough bubbling action as a good hard rolling boil in my freshwater tests I'm powering it with a Quiet One 4000 HH. Which is actually smaller than originally thought possible for an in-water eductor, but seems to do OK for the air/water mixing eductor.

Here's a couple pics:

My tank size is 75 main and 55 sump/fuge so about 120g's all said & done. Due to it's size, it's not for the cramped of space, but I'm putting all the equip & 55 sump in the basement so I've got some extra space. I have extra height on it's upper body right now that I may or may not cut down after I get it running in a real environment. It stands about 6' tall right now.

It's probably more skimmer than I'll need, but if that's the case I intend to run it intermitently. I can also throttle back the input which greatly decreases the bubble/water ratio and should make it less efficient. I mostly wanted to build it because it's a newer concept skimmer just because I could to prove the concept.

No pics of it producing foam, since I don't have a tank setup to put it on just yet.

looks great, i plan on making one in several months to a year depending on when our addition gets done. they are do loud for the living room.

the only concern i have is your water level you want thed eductor higher than your drain pipe. this will keep the water from pouring out of the eductor housing when the power goes off.

Yeah, I have to adjust that. I figured that out on the deck luckily and not in the basement. I couldn't decide exactly how I was going to plumb it into the sump which is on a stand, so I glued the body, and dry fitted the input/outputs for show.

I'm interested in seeing what the bubbles look like when the salinity is right.

This one actually isn't terribly loud. What I thought about doing if it was is adding a small muffler from a lawn mower. I was walking in the hardware store, and saw them there. I figured with the right custom adapted fitting it would work pretty well.

as long as the muffler is all plastic. metal no matter where it is will make it into the tank.

Geoff,I did see the pics on pages 3&5, but they were not the units at MML. I wanted to see the ones that Chris modified,at MML.
The drawings are very good, they tell you the type, and size of fittings to use. What I don't see is the length of the sections of PVC,which I think would be critical.
