MH VHO DIY Lighting

I’m getting ready to order my lighting equipment from hellolights and had a few questions.

The plan is to build a canopy and installing the following lighting on my AGA 75E:

2 X 250 Watt MH

2 X 110 Watt VHO.

Click here for an idea of the retrofitting

I plan on using the 48" reflector, would it be a mistake to not go with the Parabolic Reflectors instead?

I was thinking about going with the Parabolic Reflectors, but I was concerned that there would not be enough room for the vho.

I am going to put 2 fans in the canopy (which will be enclosed), what size would you recommend?

How are your fans set to come on? (When the MH goes on? Thermostat controlled?)

Any other advice would be greatly welcomed!

Thanks!!

i would stick with the reflector shown. trying to fit the VHO's around those large reflectors will prolly be problematic. most of the time the fans come on when the unit is turned on. they are prolly not thermostatically controlled unless they say so. those fans are fairly expensive, so they would point it out.

I would go with the spider rflector and just URI bulbs as they have the reflector built in already.

Ditto on Geoff's post. There are lots of fans our there. I use the 5" Radio Shack 65cfm (110v). You can find then cheaper elsewhere, but these units are heavy duty and will last longer than most. Point one to flow in. The other to flow out. The key here is flow.

The retro's from Hello are good. I like the 10K XM bulbs combo'd with super actinic vho's.
