Making an overflow

For my 10 gallon nano tank that I am working on I would like to make an overflow in one of the corners of the tank, and i have heard people say that I should only use a peice of acrylic bent into an L shape to make the overflow, but i thought i could just take two peices of glass and silicone them into an L shape and then silicone them to the corner of the tank. Could I do this or do i need to use acrylic to do that.
And another question, what size glass should I use to make the baffles for my sump tank?

you could try Lexan...its polycarbonate and you can do what they call a cold bend. Its also much more forgiving then acrylic. Cheap sheets of Lexan are at: https://secure15.nexternal.com/share...unt2=164802193

I know thats a long link...should work though. Just use the search box and type lexan to find it. I can't seem to browse and find it, but them again....i didnt try all that hard either.

Let us know how you make out....and include pictures!

You can pick lexan thick enough for an overflow for a 10 at Lowe's or HD. just bend it into an L (I used a propane blowtorch to heat it up) glue it in place. Here's how mine came out:

You can of course use glass if you're comfortable working with it.

I would go with 1/8" (or 1/8"-1/4" acrylic) glass for your baffles, just because it's a little easier to work with than the really thin stuff.

Whatever the thickness of the stuff is at Lowe's, 1/8" probably or some metric equivalent. Since all the force is pushing in, it works just fine. I used aquarium silicone. Seems to be working fine, and I've used it in the past and it works okay as long as there isn't excessive force on it.
