Looking for a homemade skimmer (Geoff)

I have an extra Mag 9.5 and I’d like to use it to run a (Geoff) skimmer, there is no limit on a footprint.
All the plans I see are using a smaller pump can I just go taller Or wider Or just valve it off?
Is it easy to tune?

Thanks
Terry

the Mag 9.5 on a 3/4" Kent valve would be fine, would acually be pretty nice. you can go to a 6" diameter pipe if you want. it will make it a better skimmer. i would go with a bigger outlet pipe though, due to the higher flow of the 9.5. a 1.25" outlet should be plenty.

So I would change the outside tube from a 4” PVC pipe 36”long, to a 6” PVC pipe 36”long.
And also change And make the outlet from 1” to 1.25”

So I will not need the 4" closet flange adaptor I will need to make a base, that’s ok I can use the PVC welder from work.
This should get me started with the parts list listed on your mantled monster build page.

Thanks
Terry

you do not need to make it 3' tall unless you want to. there is an easier "Geoff" skimmer to make in the DIY archives. this is super simple and requieres little more than a few cuts and some glue.

the taller the skimmer the more work the pump will have to do to produce bubbles. with a Mag 9.5 this is not as much of a problem, but with the extra diameter the height will not be needed.
